The research & development team supports the client in designing products as well as in finding new solutions and formulations throughout the production process:

selection of raw materials, production using pilot facilities,
review of production and control processes,
stability tests,
microbiological inspections and chemical characterisations.

All stages are carried out in Atena Industry's in-house laboratories.

To optimise the chemical characterisation of extracts from medicinal plants sophisticated analytical techniques such as HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) are used in combination with sensitive, specific detectors. As a result, we get an in-depth understanding of the quality and quantity of bioactive molecules within the different plant matrices (plant raw materials, liquid extracts, dry extracts) which is especially useful for developing new solutions and formulations.

We cooperate closely with accredited external laboratories and local universities.

Production methods
Our production process is built on modern technologies and machines that were specifically commissioned – together with their layout – in response to the needs of Atena Industry’s clients. All components are designed in such a way that particularly enables flexible production in large and small batches.

Natural raw materials
The plant extracts, including the olive leaf infusion produced by Atena Industry, are made from raw materials of certified origin. They are natural and totally free of chemical additives. These extracts are ingredients that are valued by clients who pay particular attention to sustainability and environmental matters and meet the needs of those seeking a healthier and more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Quality control in production is crucial to offer an excellent product. For this reason, Atena Industry has two in-house analysis labs and collaborates with accredited laboratories and universities.

In the chemical laboratory, semi-finished and finished products are characterised using sophisticated tools such as HPLC. High-performance liquid chromatography makes it possible to separate the compounds in a solution, enabling the continuous qualitative and quantitative analysis of the substances contained therein.

The microbiological laboratory carries out microbiological analyses of bacteria, yeasts and moulds on incoming raw materials, semi-finished and finished products to ensure all supplements produced are hygienic.
